Are We Not Men

“Are We Not Men?”

I am a huge fan of author Margaret Atwood, and the dystopian vision of a future where gene editing and manipulation has shaped every aspect of our life and culture that she created in Oryx and Crake.

So I was pretty excited to see that another author, , has taken up the CRISPR dystopian mantel for the latest issue of the New Yorker.

Entitled “Are We Not Men“, Boyle’s short story focuses on a something as simple dispute between neighbours, set in a not so distant time when gene editing is readily available to everyone. The story is available to read online, or as an audio file. I expect I’ll save this one for my commute home later.

Don your CRISPR-coloured spectacles and enjoy the ride.
