“Now I know why I’m on the show,” quips George Church, in response to Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show, who joked that “that’s how you live forever, it’s who you know.”

Church was invited onto the program to chat about the enormous potential of genetic engineering, including CRISPR, wolverine claws, living forever and bringing back the woolly mammoth. “I’d love a woolly steak,” Colbert remarks.

While many of us might prefer to hear a little more from Church in this interview and a little less from Colbert (funny as the guy is), it’s amazing to see the exciting innovations from our field be shared on a major public platform like The Late Show, and inspire excitement about the possibilities, however unlikely.

Although, seriously George, we’d be down for some Wolverine claws too.
